Although there is some strong language, I believe that The Martian is perfect for ages 13 and up, hence the rating. However, there is no nudity. Although, in one scene, one of the characters performs removal of a small piece of metal from his upper abdomen. This required him to take his shirt off. Many people say that this is nudity, but it is not. Being nude means to be completely unclothed.

Plot Summary
During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive.
