About Tom Sturridge
Tom Sturridge (Thomas Sidney Jerome Sturridge, born 5 December 1985, London) is an English actor from a family deeply embedded in the performing arts — his father is director Charles Sturridge, his mother actress Phoebe Nicholls, and his maternal grandparents were actors Anthony Nicholls and Faith Kent. He has a daughter, Marlowe, with ex-fiancée Sienna Miller, and has been in a relationship with Alexa Chung since 2022; they became engaged in late October 2026.
Sturridge began as a child actor, debuting at ten in Gulliver's Travels (1996), directed by his father. He re-emerged in 2004 with Being Julia (Meryl Streep) and Vanity Fair, then gained wider recognition as Carl in The Boat That Rocked (2009) (Philip Seymour Hoffman, Bill Nighy). On stage, he won the Critics' Circle Theatre Award for Most Promising Newcomer for Punk Rock (2009), earned Tony nominations for Orphans (2013) and Sea Wall/A Life (2019), and starred in the 2017 Broadway production of 1984. His most prominent screen role is Dream/Morpheus in Netflix's The Sandman (2022–2025). Other recent work includes Irma Vep (2022), Widow Clicquot (2024), The Chronology of Water (2025), and The Man I Love (2026), which screened at Cannes.
